Megasoid

Megasoid was born out of the ashes of a burnt-up modular synth borrowed in a coffee line, followed by a summer of mobile partying in a shitty van with a DIY Mojito stand that produced: 1) a drink-soaked machinedrum (RIP), 2) a pile of broken synth gear and 3) a ton of dirty street-bass remixes and some straight-up club bangers performed live (and then leaked/charted throughout the next year). Comprised of Robert ‘Speakerbruiser Rob’ Squire and Hadji Bakara, this Montreal based duo has been smashing the local population with their brand of rap-influenced big-synth remix music, leaving a trail of bruised PAs and broken beer glasses in its path. Megasoid remixes and mixtapes have garnished serious attention and praise from highbrow music critics and reputable DJs alike, while their illegal parties are legendary. They were also voted Song of the Year in ‘07 and Top 20 LPs of 08 by The New Yorker, and “Best show of Pop Montreal 2008″ by Spin. Promoting for / remixing for / working exclusively with an A-list of producers and rappers from Europe and North America, Megasoid has put the Northeast on blast, making their ‘Turbo Crunk’ club nights a home for performing producer friends worldwide. Their leaked tracks and remixes have built a serious anticipation for their first album. In the meanwhile, expect some of their legit remix work to surface before their first ‘real’ album’s release on Ninja Tune, sometime towards this fall or winter.
