Frank Ferera

Born: June 12, 1885 Died: June 26, 1951 Immensely successful Hawaiian musician who recorded prolifically between 1915 and 1930. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1885 of Portuguese ancestry, he first came to the U.S. to entertain at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition as part of the Keoki E Awai vaudeville troupe. Married Helen Louise Greenus, who took the stage name [a1700445], and the two toured and recorded many records for Columbia, Victor and Edison between 1915-1919. Following the mysterious disappearance of Helen aboard the steamship SS President traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle, Frank Ferera continued a successful recording career throughout the 1920s. Frank Ferera's Hawaiian Trio enjoyed great popularity, and often backed popular singers, such as Annette Hanshaw.
